5 THINGS MOM REALLY WANTS THIS MOTHER’S DAY

5 Things for Mom.png

Mother’s Day during a Pandemic looks a little different than in years past.  One thing that’s not different is what mom really wants as her gifts. SPOILER ALERT: It’s NOT stuff and won’t cost you a dime.

We’ve heard from a lot of mamas out there and we’ve compiled a list of our favorites in no particular order:

1.) Clean Up After Yourselves.

Ok, so this sounds harsh but we really don’t mean it to be. We just want everyone to clean up their stuff. Imagine walking into the playroom (or family room or kitchen or bedroom or any room for that matter) and seeing the floor clear of any toys, board games, puzzles, books, electronics, dishes, clothes….everything is in their proper place. The best part is that she never had to ask anyone to clean up!! Could this be a new daily routine? We just got goosebumps.

2.) Give Her Time To Organize Her Own Closet.

Moms spend a lot of time organizing and tidying up shared spaces. Give her the gift of time to address those spaces that are purely for her benefit alone. Maybe she wants to tackle her closet, her bathroom items, or maybe even her memorabilia. Giving her the gift of time and space to focus on her own belongings will surely be something that speaks to her. She may or may not want to tackle these projects on Mother’s Day, but let her know she will have the time and space if and when she wants it. If she wants some support in the organizing process we are just an email or phone call away and we love helping organize any space!

3.) Make Her Meals and Clean Up.

Whether it's breakfast in bed, a picnic lunch in the yard, or a family dinner at the table, Mom will appreciate a meal prepared just for her. Get the whole family involved and create a full menu for her to enjoy. After dessert (of course, there’s dessert!), the family can clear the table, wash and put away the dishes, and wipe everything down.

4.) Take A Photo WITH Her.

In most homes, Mom is usually the one capturing moments behind the camera. Having a nice photo with all family members included will be sure to delight her. Take some candid photos of her with the kids too. These are typically few and far between and are like gold to most moms. Take it a step further and save her favorite as a wallpaper on her phone or the background on her computer. You can even have a few images printed to replace some outdated framed photos around the house. This kind of gift takes very little time and effort, and is meaningful and long lasting. Fancy clothes and photo equipment not required. Smiles and catching authentic moments a huge plus. Even smooshed in family selfies are highly encouraged, just let her enjoy it and not have to hold the phone. If you want to go all out, go ahead and find a local photographer to take a #frontporchproject family photo. You will be a household hero.

This is what most of the photos look like when I try to get in the photo. It makes me smile but not exactly the photo that I was going for. Help!!

5.) Show Her Kindness And Give Her Hugs & Kisses

This is pretty self explanatory. Just show her the love she tries to show you each and every day. It feels good.

****TOTALLY OPTIONAL****

If you are feeling a true urge to spend money and present a gift —> A gift certificate for a manicure or pedicure will be perfect! This will have her fantasizing about a little pampering and support a local small business to boot!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mamas out there! We hope you have a wonderful day shared with the ones you love most.
